Kallypso is the 'Master' in BDSM Lit

I've been reading Masters at Arms (Rescue Me) by Kallypso Masters. Not quite done with it but I can definitely review it...and give it two thumbs up, 10 out of 5 stars, and tell you that I've become a fan of the genre.

This is the first book in the Rescue Me series, introducing the three male leads -- Adam. Damian, and Mark All three are Iraqi vets who have been dealt hard blows because of who they are and what they do. Each man is scarred by his life. Masters at Arms starts them at the beginning of what will turn out to be their romantic, erotic adventures. While this book is broken into three sections, one for each man, the next books will feature then in their own story line.

I'm trying to think of a way to recommend this book that won't come out as a double entendre. Because the words "taut", "hard", and others come to mind when I want to describe Ms. Masters' style of writing and I won't be referring to the hard bodies of these men. This lady knows how to write and her storytelling ability is amazing. She knows how to set the mood, describe the scene, and make you part of the action.

The plots are full of action and the characters are human and real. I got so caught up in their lives, their pain, that putting the book down was almost an impossibility. There wasn't any sexual activity in what I've read so far but I know I want to pick up the next two books to read it. I knew these men, I was there with them and feeling their emotions and pain.

For anyone who's read Fifty Shades of Grey and wants to read something a lot more grown up and a lot better written, here's your chance. Kallypso Masters is bloody brilliant in this genre. I never thought I'd get into BDSM lit but I'm definitely a fan of the lady's.

Masters at Arms (Rescue Me) is still a freebie at Amazon and I'd gladly pay for it, that's how good it is. And I will most definitely be getting the next two books in the series. And waiting for that third.

***** stars for Masters at Arms -- a sexy read and the promise of a great series.

Thanks for the awesome review, Jesse! Glad you're enjoying the intro. Wait till you get to the real BDSM scenes in the later books. (I have just a smattering of sex and BDSM in the intro, but they get hotter later.)

Love the quote about being a more grown up "Fifty Shades." LOL. Posted it on Facebook. :)

Can't wait to do Edin Road Radio with you next month!
